Learning Festival & Used Book Sale
Turning the Page is partnering with Friends of Mitchell Park to host a learning festival for the whole family! Stock up for your summer books: We will have over 2,000 children’s books and thousands of books for all ages -- all books on sale for between $3 and $7.
Join us for arts & crafts, a talk with Tricia Walker, author of the children’s book Dream Street, and meet The Giving Square, a nonprofit empowering children to engage with their communities. Please help us spread the word!
Kids and families can craft collages showcasing their own dreams while hearing from award-winning author and speaker Miss Tricia Walker
Come to the crafts station for kids to create their own beaded bookmark
Nonprofit Giving Square will provide kids with learning experiences and tools for a lifetime of meaningful and impactful volunteering, including connections to their network of more than 100 partners through DC.
About Carpe Librum: Carpe Librum is a used bookstore benefiting Turning the Page, an education nonprofit dedicated to developing literacy programs for elementary and middle school students in Wards 1, 7, & 8
Puppet Show
Join us at Mitchell Park for a family-friendly puppet show featuring Blue Sky Puppet Theatre performing The Three Not So Little Pigs. This offbeat and hilarious twist on the classic children’s story is full of laughs and shares a fun message about cooperation. Bring a blanket, gather the kids, and enjoy a lively morning of storytelling and puppetry in the park.

Pickleball Tournament
Come out and watch the Mitchell Park Pickleball Tournament!
Join us for a fun, high-energy day at the courts as players compete in a friendly community tournament. Spectators are welcome - we’ll have courtside seating so you can relax and enjoy the action, plus a DJ and MC keeping the energy up throughout the day. The Mitchell Park Jam Band will also be playing nearby, making it a great day to be in the park.
Whether you’re a pickleball fan or just looking for something fun to do outside, stop by, meet your neighbors, and enjoy the atmosphere!

🧘 Free Yoga Class- Achieve your zen with a free 30min Yoga flow class by Yoga District, starting at 1pm. BYO mat!

👻 Haunted House – step inside our spooky tradition

The Day serves as a vital opportunity to reconnect with neighbors, meet community partners, and celebrate the season together! Representatives from a number of city and community organizations will join the festival, including the Councilwoman Pinto’s Office, Smithsonian National Zoo, DC Parks and Recreation, DC Fire/EMS, Woodrow Wilson House, Hirshhorn Kids, Early Stages, Phillips Collection, Tudor House, the Washington Studio School, and more.
